ヘッドガスケットのシール性やエンジン剛性の面から、シリンダーヘッドとシリンダーブロックの結合は強固にする必要があります。こうした非常に高い面圧での締結は、ワッシヤーに大きな負担がかかり、変形や破損のおそれがあります。また、座面の表面の粗さやうねりなどの、微少な凹凸が締め付け後にへたることで、ゆるみが生じます。
TOMEI強化ワッシャーは、ノーマルに対し厚みを1.0mm増加させると共に、SCM435の調質材を用いることで、ワッシヤーの変形を押えて限界面圧を高め、適正な面圧と、高い軸力の確保を高次元でバランスさせました。また、座面は研磨仕上げをして表面の粗さを低減し、へたりを抑えました。

When needing to maintain the sealing characteristics and engine rigidity of the head gasket by the firm holds of the cylinder head to the block. Maintaining the perfect seal at higher pressures that are found with performance engines usually puts extreme stress loads on these washers which run the risk of deforming and or damaging the stock washers. The stock washers are not always a perfectly flat surface so any signs of warping or uneven surfaces on the washers can cause the bolts/nuts to loose the correct tension when under excessive loads. The TOMEI strengthened washer is made with SCM435 material which helps with guaranteeing the correct surface pressure at all times.
